Tips on buying a new guitar.
Whilst Argos and other catalogue style companies offer a small selection of seemingly well priced guitars, this can be a false economy. Specialist music shops are generally the way to go. They know how to set up guitars and demonstrate the instrument. They also generally carry a wider range of choice. Things to look for : The obvious things to look for are signs of damage. A damaged instrument is not really worth persevering with. There is however a difference between damaged and just good old wear and tear. Make sure the action is low and strings do not buzz excessively. Check the sides of the neck to make sure there are no rough or sharp frets. Ebay can be a good source of guitars, however it is very difficult to know what you are buying from a photograph, so what might seem like a good deal could turn out not so great in the long run. |
